We are seeking a dedicated individual to fill the vital role of Pou Whirinaki. This position plays a critical role in supporting our Whānau Ora Navigators and partners throughout the Waitaha/Central region. This role sits within a team of three Pou Whirinaki who support the regions of Te Waipounamu with teammates supporting Te Tau Ihu /Upper South Island and Te Tai Tonga/Lower South Island. 

Job Description

Ko tā mātou mahi - Our role
The Pou Whirinaki acts as a crucial connection between our agency and Whānau Ora Navigators and partners, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery and community engagement.
The role includes:
•    Strengthening community relationships and forging new partnerships.
•    Supporting and communicating regularly with Whānau Ora Navigators and partners to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
•    Attending community events, engaging with local leaders, and advocating for Whānau Ora initiatives.
•    Monitoring progress and impact of services, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.


Responsibilities include:
•    Collaborate and communicate with Navigators, communities, and leaders to strengthen ties and support initiatives.
•    Establish and maintain a network that harnesses the social connections of whānau and Whānau Ora Navigator host organisations.
•    Serve as the primary contact for positive stories and address any issues or concerns raised by Whānau Ora Navigators and partners.
•    Facilitate continuous communication and collaboration across Te Waipounamu.
•    Support Whānau Ora Navigators in building and sustaining professional networks, both online and in person, fostering relationships and shared learning.
•    Regularly assist Whānau Ora Navigators and partners in measuring and monitoring their progress through formal evaluations and whānau surveys and ensure timely delivery of contract reports.
•    Actively promote the Whānau Ora approach to foster understanding and enthusiasm among community members and stakeholders.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Ōu pūkenga - What you will bring
•    Experience working within a kaupapa Māori framework and deep understanding of te ao Māori.
•    Established credibility and relationships within the Māori community.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in Te Reo Māori and Tikanga.
•    A deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in community engagement.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for community engagement.
•    Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and travel within the region.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Confidence in articulating and understanding the Whānau Ora approach.
•    Willingness to engage with whānau, hapū, and iwi networks throughout Aotearoa.
